In Amongst It All

Life is good.

So very, very good.

Here's a tiny bit of it:

Hosting an Aussie friend I've not seen in twenty years has made me pause and ask some pertinent and life altering questions:

What would you rather wear: a TANK TOP; or a singlet?
Would you rather hitchhike; or dink a ride?
Would you rather have BANGS or cut a fringe?
Have a green pepper, or enjoy some capsicum?

And there's more.
So much more.

I am all for dinking a ride.

Wadia reckin?

(True story - traveling in Africa with Ozzies. Man from Oz goes up to local:"Wadia reckin?" Local:"I am not wrecking anything!")

Would you rather play badminton with a birdie; or a shuttlecock?

we've been laughing about whaddya wreckin for days now....

Linda, I was shocked to learn that my kids also know this word and that they love to use it as much as possible in gym class. Ah, what a sheltered existence I live. Those Aussies sure know how to throw around some great colour!

Colleen- fair dinkum.
(I've yet to ask for proper clarification for that. I think it's a substitute for "no kidding".

Grab your cozzy and your sunnies and let's head to the beach. Too cold for the cozzy, here, but I wore my sunnies to the dog park.

With your capsicum, you might try some aubergine. One of our Ozzies in French speaking Africa, before heading to the market, asks: "What is French for aubergine?" Fair dinkum.

Please translate Janice as I have no idea what you are saying!

cozzy = swimming costume = swimsuit.
sunnies = sun glasses.
capsicum = Latin and Australian for pepper.
aubergine = French and Australian for eggplant.

Ahh, thanks!
Never have had eggplant.
