Brian: "So he's going to have a blood transfusion, then you'll pick him up from the hospital and bring him home for his day pass? Doesn't that sound weird?"
Joyce: "Yeah, the whole thing is weird."
Micah: "What's a blood transfusion?"
Brian: "That's when they hook him up to a machine that sucks the blood out of him, cleans the blood, then returns it to his body."
Micah: "Oh! Kinda like a Brita!"

Great post. New realities of life that just nestle in and become familiar routines....
Just a little clarification - what Brian described is dialysis. A transfusion is just adding some new blood to what is already there (kind of like adding oil to your car between oil changes.)
I love the Britta analogy.
Carol: That's Brita with one 't' smartypants.
LOL - Water* classic
* 'what a'. Geddit.
Poses a good subject for new medical research ... feeling whacky, pop in a body Brita ;-)
When I read it the first time I thought you were referring to people who love in Britian.
I need more sleep.
Hugs and prayers to your family.
