Is It Getting Hot in Here... Or is it Just Me?!

Its gonna be hard to hobnob with the every day citizen, now that I'm a hot celebrity. Yep, did I mention PUBLISHED, hot celebrity? I'll likely have to dye my hair black and wear a cap just to get to the Co-op and buy a paper. Likely the National Post next time, or maybe MacLeans (Most influential people.... I suspect). The Times is another option I would consider, maybe Jeez magazine, probably the Cosmopolotan. Just not the Winnipeg Sun.
~

Oh, its gonna be hard to be humble, now that fame has spread to the highways, the biways, the bigways, the darps, the villes, and the orts. I must be careful to supplement my wardrobe with items other than ugly sweaters and newsprint. I must not forget the responsibilities that come with fame and prestige. I have mouths that must be fed, relationships to maintain.
~
No, this prairie girl will never forget from whence she came, no matter where the paparazzi will take her.

i'm so proud of you! you make our little town PROUD!

(what with all this recent "celebrity status", you might find yourself with a new nickname sometime soon. My vote is for "Joyce Hildebrand -- Nivervilles Darling". Maybe they could even add it to the town sign.)

Congrats Joyce! I always knew you'd get published!!!! Move over John Grisham, here comes Joyce, making her way directly to the New York Times bestseller list.

"With great power comes great responsibility." Put me on your list for your first published novel. Congrats, Joyce.

Can I have your autograph? I must check out the Carillon next time I'm at my mother-in-law's house!

(About the Winnipeg Sun - I have been quoted - and misquoted - in there a few times, and all I can say is that they have a "low tolerance for the truth".)

Congratulations! Good luck with the new found fame. First the ugly sweater parties, now this. What's next to come in your fun-filled exciting life?

Okay dear Joyce, come back down to earth...I too have been published in the Carillon...a few years back with my low German edition of the "Night Before Christmas" so I know all about the fame, the signing of autographs at the local grocery store, the hounding of the paparazzi, all that jazz...if ya need any tips just give me a holler Lindalew : )
Congrats, silly girl!!!!
P.S I noticed someone else did his "version" of my poem this year...I think I'll sue...

:) Good to know that there are still people in town I'll be able to relate to, Lindalew...

ah, humility is always readily available, esp when one's real life consists of small people. They never hesitate to remind you that your cooking sucks, you forgot the hot lunch forms, and you still haven't taken them to the chiropractor or bought those chapsticks you promised. Their pants aren't clean within 24 hours of hitting the laundry, they are expected to do chores (of all things) and there's rarely adequate change on allowance day.

Congratulations from the shy poet who hides in the library. Your talent at bringing humour to ordinary life is indeed a godly gift. I hope you are enjoying the writers' group at SAC.
