Stuff I Hate

I hate it when people chew with their mouths wide open, displaying the wonders of digestion.

I hate it when people try to sell me something when it wasn't MY idea first. Particularily phone calls, or that psycho guy who tries to sell us meat off the back of his truck. Who came up with that and thought it was a good idea?! And why is some guy driving around with a freezer on the back of his truck? Even us Canadians way out here in the wild have grocery stores and butchers. Its probably people parts and he's selling it like its steak or pork or something....

And the kicker. I hate it when parents mess around with food and turn it into a control issue. Like the kid who gets a portion of something he doesn't like every day for breakfast, and no drink so that the loving parents can stay within their grocery budget. The said portion must be eaten quickly. No dawdling or there will be some food related punishment to go along with it. Then said child comes to daycare sniffing the air and hinting about food. Almost always. Almost all day.

And so I feed him breakfast all over again.
Every day.
While he smacks away with his mouth wide open.

I love that you have a label titled "bitter". Really.

When I was a kid, I was made to sit at the table until everything was finished on my plate. Guess who won? Which may explain my own issues with food.

.. but Joyce, you are the person this child is going to equate with good food and happiness. that has to count for something, be worth the frustration your surely feel towards his caregiver(s)...

Are you sure that wasn't Paul and Jenn delivering pork?? I bugged her a few months ago when her and Paul were driving around delivering pork that they were in kahoots with that "mobile meat" guy.

I think Gloria is on the right track with this...I remember having to wait for the bus at a friend's house and it seems as though I always arrived in time for breakfast....I may have seemed a nusance to them but their home was a comforting haven for me...which is probably why I have the need to hoard those tiny pastel Tupperware cereal bowls even to this day....the best cereal I ever ate was over their house in those crazy little bowls. However, it provides little compensation for the frustrations you must feel when you encounter the side effects of poor parenting...but truly...you are being imprinted into that child's life forever.

Yes, me and my husband are known to drive around like the hutterites selling pork out of the back of a half tonne. But we're in demand. We can't supply enough of the stuff. As a matter of fact, I am out of farmer sausage and my friends' deep freezers are overloaded.

Good post Joyce!

It's hard for me to imagine that parents can be so mean.
